Delicious gut friendly papaya digestion smoothie
If you’re not yet a papaya fan, here are a few reasons you should give it a try.
Apart from it tasting like you are on a tropical holiday (possibly because it originated in Mexico and is served on every holiday fruit platter), papaya has a number of digestive health benefits.
Papaya’s get’s its digestive super hero status thanks to an enzyme called papain. Papain may support the digestive process in a number of ways including:
reducing stomach bloating
easting heartburn
preventing constipation due to the high fibre content
improving hydrating levels (papaya contains up to 85% water)
improving immune health and collagen production due to the high level of Vitamin C (it has one of the highest vitamin C levels per 100 grams)
Payaya Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 /2 Papaya, diced into small cubes
1 banana, diced
1 handful of baby spinach
1/4 avocado
400 mls coconut water (or milk of choice). Add extra liquid as needed
8 cashews
¼ lime squeezed
1 tbsp of chia seeds
Method
Blend: ingredients all in a hight speed blender for approximately 60 seconds and serve.
